Failure of 5 single wall FRP UST’s

Clark Engineers was engaged to provide expert testimony in a $4 million lawsuit. A contractor installed used tanks (in excellent condition) in clay back-fill – unapproved by the tank manufacture. Our investigation revealed a multitude of errors including

1) Tanks sat empty for 5 years without a top paving slab.

2) Logging trucks often parked over the tanks causing excessive deflection and cracks in the tanks.

3) Our model testing revealed that the unapproved clay back-fill would have worked if the slab were placed over the tanks. Our testimony resulted in damages being reduced to $400,000 or a reduction of $3,600,000.
